Evelyn Ida (Johnson) "Evie" Bartel left her earthly home on March 25, 2015 to join the Celestial Choirs. Evelyn was born in Spring Lake in 1921 to John and Victoria Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1994 and is survived by her daughter Mary Beth (Gene) Beals, son Frederick James "Nate" (Deborah) Bartel; grandchildren Christopher (Celia) Beals, Rebecca (John) Bernhardt of Phoenix, AZ, Lauren (Carey) Mullen, Zachary Bartel; great-grandchildren Jared, Jordan, Jack; sister Marian Martin of Boyne City as well as several nieces and nephews. Evelyn Ida (Johnson) "Evie" Bartel left her earthly home on March 25, 2015 to join the Celestial Choirs. Evelyn was born in Spring Lake in 1921 to John and Victoria Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1994 and is survived by her daughter Mary Beth (Gene) Beals, son Frederick James "Nate" (Deborah) Bartel; grandchildren Christopher (Celia) Beals, Rebecca (John) Bernhardt of Phoenix, AZ, Lauren (Carey) Mullen, Zachary Bartel; great-grandchildren Jared, Jordan, Jack; sister Marian Martin of Boyne City as well as several nieces and nephews. Evie was an administrative assistant with Kent County Mental Health Services for over 27 years. She joyfully shared her musical talents as a member of the Westminster Sanctuary Choir, Cornerstone Choral Society, Calvin Chorus, and was a charter member of the Grand Rapids Symphonic Choir. Evie also held the positions of Sustaining Deacon, Caring Deacon and Elder. She was a volunteer at Frederick Meijer Gardens, Butterworth Hospital, and served as a docent at the Grand Rapids Art Museum.
